First, we listen. Whether you have only limited ideas or many thoughts , we begin the process by listening. We then take you through our proprietary Q&A to discover how we can make your home reflect your lifestyle. Then we focus our attention on where you will build, whether on an existing lot or a new home build. Our real estate experience and broker license allow us direct access to available properties.
Once we have qualified your needs through our in-depth lifestyle evaluation, we begin to “shape” your home to fit your needs and your budget. No typical “builder pressure” to force you into a home design that isn’t the perfect fit. We may look at pictures, drive through neighborhoods, or even show you existing homes we have built to bring your vision to life. Our goal is to identify and solidify the daily demands you will expect from your home before we even pick up a piece of paper to design it.
Having now settled on a direction for your home, we begin to scope the mechanics of your home, from the quality of materials to the home’s internal systems. Each of these are critical not only to the construction of your home, but also for the resale value and energy efficiency. Having done that, we can now effectively begin the design phase to bring your home to life on paper. We work with sketches first so we can collectively reach agreement on the basic shape and size of your home. From there we take it to true architectural blueprints.
Bringing Your Home to Life
Once we have your home on paper, we then pull together our entire team of experts to walk you through every step of the home-building experience. You will be introduced to our team experts so that your decision-making process is as exciting and enjoyable as it should be while we build your new home. But it doesn’t stop there. As we build, we continue to work with you to evaluate the plans and make sure our plans are coming together as you envisioned.
The time has finally come, and we begin with a thorough walk-through to introduce you to every aspect of your new home. Everything from how to change an air filter to going through your product warranties to make sure you understand how to maintain and manage your gorgeous new home. And lastly, this is where we excel. From the moment you step foot in your new home, you have a complete team at Bouwkamp to support your on-going needs as you live in your new home. Randy Bouwkamp, President
Randy established Bouwkamp Builders, Inc. over 30 years ago as a result of his passion to build homes and build a business. He spends the majority of his time developing new projects, meeting with new clients, managing and assisting in the land development and building design process, and staying current on industry trends and the latest in products and technologies. Randy has his Graduate Builder Certification, is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, and is also a licensed REALTOR® and Broker. Randy loves to spend quality time with his grandson and play with his dog.
Scott Bouwkamp, Project Manager
Scott has spent over two decades in the construction industry. He brings his knowledge and expertise to the daily operations of the projects. Managing subcontractor relationships and being on the job site regularly ensure a quality product completed on time. He also prioritizes staying up-to-date on building code changes and other industry related trends. When Scott is not at work, he spends time taking care of his farm animals and supporting his kids in their activities.
Rilee Bouwkamp, Project Manager / Director of Operations
Rilee leads the way in project management. He focuses on the details of the build in the office and ensures that they are being implemented on-site. His experience in the construction industry brings valuable knowledge to the team. He plays a helpful role in keeping up-to-date with new technology. Rilee holds a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Hope College. He is also a licensed real estate agent. When Rilee is not at work he enjoys playing golf.
Hannah Nienhuis, Assistant Project Manager
Hannah’s love for creativity, design, and organization transfers over into what she does today. She currently works on project development and management in the home building process. Each day she works to unfold her passion into her career. By hand or on the computer, Hannah assists in drawing specific details for our projects. She meets with designers and contractors of the industry to ensure the best possible project outcome. Outside of work, Hannah loves to go for hikes in nature and spend time with friends.
Hannah Rietveld, Finance Manager
Hannah’s background in business accounting gives her the set of tools she needs to organize the books and build lasting relationships. Day-to-day she works hard to ensure that all the numbers are in line. Bouwkamp Builders’ clients enjoy the benefit of accurate financial information, and are ensured the timely and efficient handling of all related items including draw schedules and subcontractor payments. Hannah has four beautiful horses that she takes care of when she is not in the office.
Herb Alfree, Business Consultant
Herb has decades of experience in business development, developing industry leading resorts, and fractional sales organizations. His skills and knowledge in the area of community planning and sales are unmatched. He provides consultation with Bouwkamp Builders and our clients as it relates to community development, strategic sales planning, and market value analysis. In Herb’s free time he likes to play golf, travel, and enjoy conversation with friends and family.

DO YOU HAVE PREFERRED SUBCONTRACTORS YOU USE?
We do have preferred suppliers and subcontractors. They are the best in the business and we take the time to review our goals often to insure we are providing the best skilled people to build your home.
DO YOU HAVE A HOME WARRANTY POLICY?
We provide a 12 month warranty from the completion date, and as well provide an additional warranty that covers some items as long as ten years. A copy can be obtained for your review.
DO WE WORK DIRECTLY WITH RANDY BOUWKAMP?
I am involved in all of our projects, and it is our team approach that makes each of us critical to the success of your project. We’ve worked together for many years, and because of this, you get a little bit of Randy in all of us.
WHAT ARE THE FIRST STEPS TO BEGIN THE PROCESS?
The process begins with an in-depth evaluation of your home building needs. This is a critical first step in ensuring that your home will reflect every aspect of your lifestyle to make it truly one-of-a-kind.
ARE YOU ABLE TO ASSIST IN SITE LOCATION AND DEVELOPMENT?
As a certified real estate broker, it is a priority to stay informed about the market and land availability. With our extensive building and development experience we can provide an expert opinion on any property by investigating improvement costs, title work, and zoning requirements.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE BEFORE YOU BREAK GROUND?
This varies depending on whether you come to us with a complete house plan, or desire for our hand in designing with you. From the start, our team works through the process efficiently, including permit acquisition and product selections, in order to commence construction within your desired time frame.
CAN WE SUPPLY OUR OWN HOME PLAN?
Yes. And if you are looking for modifications to your existing plan, we can do that too. Our primary goal is to take your vision and make it reality, and then go even further.
DO YOU HANDLE BANKING AND FINANCING?
We have an experienced finance staff that will assist you through the entire process. We also have excellent relationships with many local financial institutions, and are happy to provide recommendations.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE HOME IS COMPLETE?
You move in! But the relationship isn’t over. We consider you part of the Bouwkamp family, and any continued needs are always important to us.
HOW MUCH OF MY TIME SHOULD I EXPECT TO COMMIT TO THE BUILDING PROCESS?
Our company is set up to take the work out of your building project. You can be as involved as you like, and we love that, but trust me when I say, we build each home as if we are going to live in it ourselves. And that makes a huge difference.
